My testimony asking Multnomah County Commissioners to use their bully pulpit to encourage City Council to expand tenant protections

The recent report that tenants in 24,000 rental units are exempt from receiving relocation assistance is extremely upsetting, but not surprising. In October I testified in front of City Council about the need to expand relocation assistance and make it apply to all landlords.Evictions without cause and 10% rent increases are unjust. The family thrown into houselessness doesn’t suffer any less just because the landlord owns one unit.

Last week I testified in front of the Multnomah County Commissioners and asked them to use their bully pulpit to encourage City Council to step up and make relocation permanent and apply to all landlords. Housing is an issue that affects all of us. Below is the video of my testimony.

Here’s an article about the report in The Mercury.
