*WHAT: Dance Away the Establishment with Julia DeGraw
*WHEN: Friday, May 11, 6-8pm
*WHERE: Bit House Saloon, 727 SE Grand Ave.
Julia is advocating for a representative City Hall by creating City Council districts instead of our current at-large elections, which are rooted in Jim Crow policies: Right now, all City Commissioners live in SW Portland except one, and none live east of Cesar Chavez Blvd.
We need a system where elected officials will have to answer to Portlanders in all communities, not just their assigned bureaus and corporate lobbyists. See Skipper’s op-ed about Julia in the Portland Observer for more on why she’s a great choice for City Commissioner #2: http://portlandobserver.com/news/2018/apr/18/candidate-who-will-take-establishment/
Given that Julia’s campaign is refusing corporate contributions, she needs all the grassroots support she can get to win on the May 15th election. That’s why I’m throwing fundraiser for her at Bit House Saloon on May 11th, featuring awesome local DJs.
Stop by from 6-8pm to meet Julia, hear her speak, and enjoy the no-host bar and music from DJs Lincoln Up, Peter Marks & Moonchild. $10 requested at the door.
See you there,
